As we are all aware of the coronavirus pandemic situation in the whole world. I hope each and every one of you reading this is safe along with their family. Due to this Lockdown, People are getting bored at home having nothing to do.
This led to a rise in the number of video conferencing calls made by the third party apps like zoom, house party etc. These apps though were convenient enough but also has very high security and privacy risk.
Google meet has also received so many updates during this quarantine period. It has improved the look and feels while also maintaining the security as well as providing convenience to the users. There is a downside to this one, Only the institutions or Persons who hold a G suite account was able to use it.
But today, the tech giant announced that they are making the google meet(formerly hangout meet) will now be available to all the users who have a google account. The sole requirement for using it is a google account.
This did come as a surprise that the service which was once available for only the premium g suite holders is now available for public. Google said that it will be available for all starting in May via play store update.
Google meet is a very handy app with which users can video conference with a large group too.
Some main highlights of the app:
•Group video calls(250 member meetings)
•Can share your screen for documents
•Encrypted with Google’s security
•Has live captions support.
The app will be available to use for free in May. I currently don’t know whether it is temporarily free until pandemic or it is permanently free. Whatever the reason feel free to download and use the app starting from May.
