Xiaomi is known for keeping their almost 2-year-old devices up to date and following on the same philosophy Xiaomi has released a new software update for Redmi note 5 series and the redmi note 6 pro with the new MIUI 12 update which is based on Android 9 pie. Xiaomi recently released the MIUI 12 update for REDMI 7/7s and also the Mi 10 pro last month.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro update carries build version V12.0.2.0.PEIMIXM and is 2.0GB in size. The Redmi Note 6 Pro update, on the other hand, comes with a software version V12.0.1.0.PEKMIXM and also weighs 2.0GB.
The update is still based on Android 9.0 Pie, which is a little disappointing. But for what it’s worth, the overall software experience shouldn’t be too different than what Xiaomi is shipping on its other devices running Android 10 and Android 11. As we have already seen devices like redmi note 3 and redmi note 4 are already there with MIUI 10 and MIUI 12 based on Android 6 and Android 7 respectively, they didn’t have that much lack in software so users should be fine and not a lot of devices have gotten the update in the first place including some realme devices from that time period.
