Best apps for medical student

I have listed the best apps for medical students.

Medical education was and is very vast and its depth is increasing day by day. To cope up with all these studies, Students tried different ways to study and comprehend the different aspects of the subjects like anatomy, physiology and Pathology and surgery. Most students were approaching the method of studying with the Atlas for good diagrams and remembering the names of anatomical structures.

But what if you could make use of the technological marvel like a smartphone which could give you 3d models of the Human body and which consists of all the atlas that is available in the images in the books. Some of the apps also allow users to project the 3d model in the real world with the Help of AR(Augmented Reality). I have listed the best apps for medical students.

Let’s start with the first app

1.Human Anatomy Atlas 2021:Complete 3D Human Body.

Human Anatomy Atlas offers thousands of models to help understand and communicate how the human body looks and works–and includes textbook-level definitions. You can use it as a reference, instead of an anatomy textbook, or create virtual lab experiences with the use of AR

This app includes over 10,000 anatomical models with descriptions in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese. You can also add tags on the models and use them as a reference. This app has so much in-depth information which will help you memorize and visualise the Human anatomy experience.

Here are some of the screenshots of the apps I am using.

2.Anatomy and Physiology

This app for your Android phone and tablet uses 3D models, illustrations, and 3D animations to present the core concepts in an undergraduate A&P course.

You can take command on those tough anatomy topics! Put aside the textbook, the lab specimens, or plastic 3D models and jump into an immersive 3D experience.

With the use of this app you can:

  • Zoom in to see in real 3D how nerves exit the spinal cord and their relationship to the vertebrae.
  • Rotate to study the branches of the cranial nerves or the microanatomy of the eye from all perspectives.
  • Watch a 50-second 3D animation that explains the physiology of muscle contractions.

This app is useful for studying the basics and some deep concepts of the Physiology so you can give it a try.

3.Muscle Premium-Human Anatomy, Kinesiology and Bones.

Muscle Premium is a comprehensive 3D reference of musculoskeletal structures and function, plus common injuries and conditions. You can interact with 3D models of bones, ligaments, bursae, and skeletal muscles with nerves and vasculature.

This app lets you learn about blood supply, innervation, origins and insertions, and surface area of attachments. You can rotate and zoom in and out of 3D animations of common muscle actions. You can use this app to see and understand the differences between normal anatomy and common injuries and conditions with this app’s  Pathologies section.

4.Complete Anatomy ‘21-3D Human Body Atlas.

Complete Anatomy has a wider depth and breadth of offerings than other anatomy platforms currently available (e.g. Primal Pictures, Visible Body) as well as more detail in its models. Other anatomy apps do not offer the ability to share content and have fewer tools with which to dissect and label models”.

* They claim this app to be the MOST ACCURATE AND COMPLETE human anatomy models, over 17,000 interactive structures, including a living, beating, dissectible human heart in full 3D.

* Now with RADIOLOGY: view radiological images in parallel with interactive 3D models, available on tablet devices and Chromebooks only

* Dynamic Cross-sections, real-time Muscle Motion, Insertion & Origin mapping, Bony Surface & Landmark mapping, 12 layered systems, Nerve Tracer, Blood Supply Tracer

* 22 stunning Microscopic anatomy models

* AR mode including multiuser AR on compatible devices

5. Physiology and Pathology

With this app you can

Compare 3D models of normal anatomy to models of common diseases and conditions
-Set the heart rate and visualize conduction in a dissectable, beating 3D heart, and follow along on an ECG.
-Watch animations that present to the physiological processes of gas exchange, pulmonary ventilation, fluid balance, peristalsis, and more
-Walk through interactive lessons to understand the progression of atherosclerosis, kidney stones, lung cancer, and other common conditions
-Test your knowledge of various physiological processes and pathologies with quizzes

-Discover what happens when physiology fails. Work through interactive lessons that explain the step-by-step breakdown of common cardiovascular, renal, respiratory, gastrointestinal, and musculoskeletal processes.

Physiology & Pathology covers 48 physiology topics and 57 conditions, with 50 lessons, more than 5,800 3D models, 38 animations, 16 illustrations, and 26 quizzes.

In my opinion this app would surely help you while studying pathology with respect to Physiology.
